How do you dodge the pyramid scheme scams, the ponzi scams, and the plethora or marketing “gurus” who will take your money and then just run or want more and more money in order for their latest system to work?

Why do 99% of people fail to make any money online? I have looked at many different ways to make money and have invested in a number of courses and products? I have to say that John Thornhill’s Masterclass program is extremely good but I found creating my own e-books and products to be pretty tough going. I have to say that 2010 wasn’t a bad year overall but did I achieve everything I wanted to especially in the area of Internet Marketing ? The answer to that question is most certainly no so what went wrong.

The best decision I made was to sign up for John Thornhill’s Masterclass. This is undoubtedly one of the best courses on the market for anyone who is serious about making an income online. Unfortunately I did not keep focused on the course and flirted with too many other ideas which appeared in my inbox on a daily basis. Even though I knew the Masterclass course would provide all the tuition and tools needed I spent too long looking at other glossy sales pages rather than keeping moving forward with the course. As a result I got further and further behind and never actually produced my product. I then decided to open a new Gmail account for all my internet marketing information except for John Thornhill and Daniel Sumner. This has reduced the distraction levels and I can browse that account at my leisure. I also am in less danger of missing any important emails.

So what are my online business New Year’s resolutions?

1 Well firstly I am going back to week 4 or 5 of the Masterclass course to start some revision.
2 I am going to plan time each week to make sure I get through the course
3 Take time each day to read the forum
4 Update my blog at least once a week
5 Read other peoples blogs and make positive comments on them
6 Build a list of subscribers
7 Produce a product that people will get value from and provide substantial added value

Well I have set out my plans.

Happy New Year to all my fellow students and anyone else who cares to read this. Let’s hope that 2011 is a very productive and successful year.

With about 3 hours to spare I decided to sign up for John Thornhill’s 72 Hours of Madness. Having ummed and arrd for at least 48 hours I looked again at what John was really offering and thought I would be mad to let the opportunity pass me by.

My concern was about going into information overload, but then I had the “Lightbulb Moment”. This wasn’t about all the great products John was offering in the package. This is about working more closely with John as an add on to the Masterclass Course. The course is superb and the support from Paula Brett is fabulous as well.

The 72 Hours of Madness offer included a live consultation with John plus 8 weeks of support directly with my mentor, and hopefully at the end of it a product ready to take to market and invaluable assistance in launching that product.

I just need a few more hours each day but never mind. If it takes a bit longer so be it. Another few weeks is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Sorry to anyone reading this who didn’t know about John Thornhill’s latest offering or decided not to go for it, but for those who have grasped it with both hands I believe have made a very wise decision.

I was thinking about blogging again whilst driving the bus today. In fact I seem to spend a lot of time thinking about the Masterclass course and where it might eventually lead me.

One of the main influences on my life since starting the course is reading “The Go Giver” I am currently reading the sequel “Go Givers Sell More”; another fantastic read for anyone who hasn’t read it. I say a sequel but in fact instead of being a follow on story it is more about how to put the 5 principles into practice. I will endeavour to do a more detailed review in a subsequent blog.

Back to my day driving and I started thing about how much technology has moved on as I mentioned in my “Thoughts for Today” blog. So much so that apart from my wonderful family who obviously are the most important people in my life, the one gadget that I need most is my mobile phone.

I still call it my phone but it is so much more. My Samsung Jet touch screen phone wakes me up in the morning. Whilst having a cup of tea and breakfast (if I have time before work), I use my phone to see what my friends on Facebook have been up to, before checking my Gmail account and catching up on the latest news and sport on the BBC website. If I have any important calls to make or things to do the calendar will remind me. I have loads of photos of my 3 year old son Finlay and impromptu videos recording him growing up. I can listen to my favourite radio shows; especially Chris Evans and Steve Wright on Radio 2 or listen to my favourite tracks on the music player.

So apart from all of the above and the calculator, currency and measurement converter, notepad and voice recorder I can still make phone calls and send text messages.

That reminds me. I must back all that data up onto my PC and then to my external drive.

Keep on blogging!

A bit of a frustrating day with the Masterclass course today. As I said in my last blog I eventually got accepted for Google Adsense. Great I thought; today I will go back a few weeks and sort out the Adsense Code and see how the blog looks. As per usual all of John Thornhill’s videos were easy to follow and explained each step of the process and everything seemed to be hunky dory. I was delighted to open my blog and see that there were already several Google Ads appearing on the blog . It was then that I realised that something was not quite right.

I still am not sure exactly what happened but somehow I managed to lose all my blog graphics. So there I was back to week 4 and reinstalling all the graphics again. Looking on the positive side it was some very good revision. The other thing it made me realise was just how much ground we have already covered on the course.

I have started reading some of the other blogs and am very inspired by what I have seen. I will be posting comments very soon. It’s great to be getting comments from fellow students too
